Microsoft joins the Global LegalTech Hub, marking a turning point in its history

Updated: 12 hours ago

Just a few years ago, talking about artificial intelligence in the legal sector sounded like science fiction. Today, it’s an urgent conversation. But there are moments when the future stops being a promise and becomes the present.

Microsoft’s entry as a new partner of the Global LegalTech Hub is not just great news. It is, unequivocally, a turning point.

It’s not every day that one of the world’s leading tech companies joins the largest global legaltech ecosystem. And if it does, it’s no coincidence. It’s because something is happening. Because the legal sector can no longer be understood without technology. And because legal innovation is no longer a niche—it has become a strategic conversation in law firms, companies, institutions, and is increasingly reaching people in their daily lives.

How did we get here?

Since we founded GLTH, our purpose has been clear: to connect, connect, and connect again—connecting talent, ideas, and technology to drive a deep and human transformation of the legal sector.

We started with 19 partners. Today, we have over 600 players across the globe. Over the years, we’ve seen legal language begin to include new terms: API, machine learning, interoperability, user experience, algorithmic ethics…

Along the way, we’ve brought together universities, law firms, startups, public institutions, corporations, organizations, festivals, and innovation centers from around the world. But a true leap forward happens when companies like Microsoft decide to become an active part of this community.

Why is this so important?

Because their arrival validates a clear diagnosis: technology is no longer an accessory to law—it is its infrastructure.

From cloud computing to generative AI, from Copilot to Azure, with a strong focus on Responsible AI, Microsoft’s ability to deliver secure, scalable, and user-centered tools for legal professionals is unprecedented.

But their value is not only technological—it’s strategic: joining GLTH also means embracing the vision of our community. Here, there are no enemies or rivals to beat. We are the largest legaltech hub in the world, and everyone has a place here—a neutral, open, and global community built to coopete.

And that excites us.

What’s next?

Microsoft's arrival coincides with the most mature and expansive stage of GLTH to date: new physical hubs in Europe with offices in Madrid and Barcelona, events across four continents, projects like the growing and structuring Advisory Board, and much more.

We are a large community and a technological radar that constantly detects talent, solutions, and challenges.

And now, the question is: what will change in the coming years if major tech players and legal ecosystem actors work together?

Because what’s at stake is not just the efficiency of law firms. Or corporate profits. It’s access to justice. Fairness in legal systems. Trust in institutions. The way we protect rights and safeguard freedoms.

And for all of that, we need technology. But above all, we need purpose.

Welcome, Microsoft. This is just the beginning.
